 8Signs Firewall

[Current version of 8Signs Firewall is 3.0.37]

v2.0.8 - Released Sept. 2003(compared to v2.0.7)

Minor Improvements:

1) Added remote admin support for the File/Renumber Rules control.

Bug Fixes:

1) With Remote Administration, switching from Rules to Ban List caused entries to be displayed twice.

2) With remote administration, when editing a firewall entry, if the name was changed, the name in the display was not updated until the app was stopped and restarted.

3) When editing rules, if you hit the ESC key when editing the Description field (on the first page), the page went blank.

4) Updated Configuration Wizard to use port 5190 for ICQ.

5) When using Remote Admin, if a rule was edited and the protocol was changed, the old rule (with the old protocol) would remain.

6) The Configuration Wizard was not setting the priority of Terminal Services rules high enough. A conflict with other rules was the result.

7) Fixed bug in the firewalling driver that could crash the system under heavy load and under certain circumstances.

8Signs V1.1 - Released June 11, 2002

[1] New firewalling driver for NT4 to support dialup and eliminate the manual steps on install and uninstall.

[2] IP Tracer. The IP Tracer allows the user to right click on an 'allowed' or 'blocked' log entry packet, select "Who is IP Address", and search for that remote system's IP address. This permits the user to search for an IP address of a possible hacker performing a broadcast or an attack on their network. The option to perform a simple reverse DNS is also available.

[3] Added support for Cut/Copy/Paste of rules from one device to another (supports Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V keys for these operations)

[4] Added combo boxes to help set port values in Rule/Filtering page

[5] Added "Allow All" and "Block All" buttons to Server version's "Other IP" page (Adapter/Configuration/Advanced)

[6] Fixed bug in display of adapter IPs to handle large number of IPs on one adapter

[7] Fixed a bug in rule delete code that could cause program crash

[8] For rule display, changed it to say "All Ports" if range is 0-65535

[9] When run as an NT service, the firewall does not prompt "Are you sure?" on exit. This is to help make it easier on Advanced Server/Terminal Server

[10] Fixed bug where UI colors got mixed when a user changes the default Windows background color.

[11] Setup Wizard - mail server rules - fixed to add rule for outgoing SMTP

[12] Allow a rule to be deleted with the "Delete" keyboard key

[13] Allow for the selecting of multiple rules for deletion

[14] Allow for the selecting of a block of rules to move up or down

[15] Rule number is put in title of rule editing window

[16] Some bug fixes to handle bugs in some RealTek and SMC drivers on W2K
