What is the Outlook Connector for MDaemon?
- Outlook Connector is a plug-in for MDaemon Pro that will allow all of your Outlook users to share Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, Notes and mail folders. Folders can be shared with other Outlook Connector users as well as those using WorldClient, MDaemon’s web-mail interface. All data is stored centrally on the MDaemon server, making data backup easy.
- Will the Outlook Connector allow users to share their Contact and Calendar folders?
- Yes. Users can share their own folders, and can also access shared public folders which are not linked to specific users. Access to shared folders is controlled by comprehensive yet easy to configure permissions.
- Can I access my folders through a web browser interface when I’m offsite?
- Yes. MDaemon’s integrated WorldClient web-mail interface provides users with access to the same set of folders that they see and use when they are using Outlook with the Outlook Connector.
- What version of MDaemon does the Outlook Connector require?
- The Outlook Connector requires MDaemon Pro version 8.0 or higher.
- What versions of Outlook will the Outlook Connector work with?
- Outlook 2000, XP, 2003, 2007 (only 32 bit versions are currently supported) .
- Where has the GroupWare Plugin that you used to sell gone?
- The GroupWare Plugin has been completely replaced by the Outlook Connector. See the FAQ section on "GroupWare Migration" for more information.
- I'm already running MDaemon, can I evaluate the Outlook Connector?
- Yes, it it is the first time that you are installing the Outlook Connector on your MDaemon server, the installation process will generate a 30-day free trial license for Unlimited Users. The trial license will give you full Outlook Connector functionality.
- I'm currently using an MDaemon Standard license, how can I trial the Outlook Connector considering that it requires MDaemon Pro?
- When you install the Outlook Connector trial, an MDaemon Pro trial license key will also be generated. At the end of the 30-day trial period, if you choose not to upgrade to MDaemon Pro and purchase the Outlook Connector, your MDaemon server will revert to the previous Standard version.
- I have a 50 email accounts in my MDaemon, but only half of my users need Outlook Connector functionality. Do I have to purchase a 50 User Outlook Connector license?
- No, you do not have to match your Outlook Connector license to your MDaemon license. You could purchase a 25 User Outlook Connector license to give shared Outlook capabilities to only those MDaemon users who require it.
- Will Outlook Connector allow me to share contacts and calendars with remote email users, or will it only work on the local network?
- Any user that has access to the MDaemon server can use the Outlook Connector. If your MDaemon server is accessible from the Internet, then shared contacts and calendars will be available to them whether they are in the office, travelling with their notebook, or working from home.
- Where does the Outlook Connector get installed?
- Outlook Connector consists of two components. The Outlook Connector enabler is installed onto the MDaemon server. In addition to installing the necessary server-side components of Outlook Connector, the enabler gives you some extra menu items and controls within MDaemon to allow you to administer Outlook Connector. The Outlook Connector Outlook Plugin is installed onto each client workstation. This integrates Outlook Connector into Outlook, which allows the user to create and synchronize shared folders.
