[Current version of MDaemon Messaging Server is v12.5.6]
New in MDaemon 9.6.0
Returned Messages You Didn't Send... Backscatter Protection
Backscatter occurs when spam or viruses send email using a forged address as the return path. This can lead to thousands of bogus delivery status notifications, vacation and out-of-office messages, autoresponders, etc., ending up in users' Inboxes. Backscatter Protection will help significantly in reducing this problem. Minger Address Verification for Gateways Alt-N's new 'Minger' protocol provides an easy mechanism for one MDaemon server to query another MDaemon server and check the validity of an email recipient. This will be a very useful feature where an MDaemon server is acting as a backup MX for another primary MX MDaemon server, thereby eliminating the need for LDaemon. Message Certification - "Vouch By Reference (VBR)" MDaemon 9.6 will include the world's first commercial implementation of Vouch By Reference. VBR provides a mechanism through which certification providers may vouch for the reputation of a sender and their email messages. Used in combination with an identity authentication protocol such as DKIM, SPF, or DomainKeys, VBR provides a useful way to certify that sent and received messages are to and from genuine entities (as opposed to spammers). Automatic Meeting Acceptance for 'Resource' Type Users Accounts can now be created as a resource which will automatically accept meeting requests, modifications and cancellations. For example, this feature could be used to create a 'Meeting Room' resource, the calendar of which would be shared for others users to review the room's availability. When booking a meeting, the 'Meeting Room' user would be included as a resource (as opposed to an attendee), and its availability would be updated automatically. Account Grouping MDaemon now supports grouping of accounts. You can now define Groups, then assign email accounts to one or more groups. This allows you to create Content Filter rules that apply to groups rather than individual accounts (i.e. message size limitations that will apply to some users, but not others). Groups can also be used when setting the permissions for Public Folders. Subaddressing Subaddressing is a system for including a folder name in an email address. Replies or emails sent to the address will automatically be placed into the specified folder without the need to configure filtering rules. The syntax is mailbox+folder@domain. For example, messages sent to sales+quotes@ccsoftware.ca would automatically be routed to the Quotes folder in the sales mail account. |
