PureSight Plug-in is powered by Artificial Content Recognition (ACR) technology. The ACR is proprietary Artificial Intelligence technology. ACR mimics the human ability to understand material and categorize it according to its content. It is able to 'read' every HTML web page 'on-the-fly' and understand and categorize it based on its content. This allows for dynamic filtering of the entire Internet.

PureSight Plug-in is not reliant upon a database since the ACR categorizes sites 'on-the-fly'. However, in order to improve filtering performance (there is no need to check a site that has just been classified) PureSight Plug-in incorporates a cache that contains the classifications of previously requested pages. This way, if the same URL is requested during a given period of time, that page can be blocked or allowed according to the cache without having to re-examine it with ACR. After a given period of time that page will be removed from the cache and with the next request, it will be reclassified. PureSight Plug-in has the ability to support an external database, as an addition to the dynamic filtering.

PureSight Plug-in has achieved an unmatched recognition accuracy of 99.2%. Without a reliance upon database lists, PureSight Plug-in provides complete coverage of the constantly changing and expanding web.

Because ACR examines not only keywords (or text) but also the entire page layout along with additional HTML information, ACR does not rely heavily upon the language. Currently, the engine is trained to support English and German with an extremely high accuracy level of 99.2%. However, ACR achieves over 94% accuracy in all Latin languages including French, Spanish, Dutch, and Portuguese. For non-Latin languages including double-byte and Unicode, the current accuracy rate is above 80% and is still in development.

The ACR (PureSight Plug-in's Engine) is extremely fast. PureSight Plug-in is analyzing the packets upon arrival. The analysis of a page is completed in less than a millisecond. The only difference that would be noticed is the fact that the page will not be presented or built until PureSight Plug-in has scanned all of the packets.

PureSight Plug-in has the flexibility to add additional static URL lists in order to support the ACR engine.

Currently there are two generations of Internet Filtering solutions:

Database/keyword solutions were appropriate when the Internet was in its infancy and there were only thousands of web pages. Compiling a comprehensive categorized list of websites was reasonable and somewhat effective. If the GateKeeper window was open on your desktop when you registered the PureSight plug-in, you will need to close GateKeeper and re-open it to see the updated expiration date. The proper date will show once GateKeeper is re-opened to the PureSight About tab. This is a known issue with WinGate 4.5.1 and PureSight plug-in 1.0.
