Both my remote client and VPN server use dynamic IP's. Can I still use WinGate VPN? How do I configure my firewall to allow WinGate VPN clients into my VPN server? Will WinGate VPN work with another companies VPN solution?

Q. Both my remote client and VPN server use dynamic IP's. Can I still use WinGate VPN?
A.

Yes. Simply install DNS4Me on your WinGate VPN server. This program will allow you to create a specific domain name for that computer. The remote clients can enter the domain name instead of the IP address of the VPN server in the client software. The client's dynamic IP is not an issue.

Q. How do I configure my external router/firewall to allow WinGate VPN clients into my VPN server?
A.

In the General tab of the VPN, both the Control Channel(TCP) port and the Data Channel (UDP)port can be configured. The default port number for both is 809. These are the only 2 ports that need to be opened on the router or firewall. (The ports are automatically configured in the WinGate Firewall when the VPN is enabled.)

Q. Will WinGate VPN work with another companies VPN solution?
A.

No. WinGate VPN will work only with its own software. WinGate VPN clients can only connect to WinGate other WinGate VPN servers.
