Bedford School, UK
Founded in 1552, Bedford School is an independent boarding and day school for boys aged 7 to 18 years, where fundamental traditions combine with innovative educational thinking to provide a challenging environment.

Choosing an email server to effectively manage electronic communications is an important decision for any school. Bedford used Netscape Messenger until about five years ago when they had to upgrade to a new version, to avoid it acting as an open relay, and then costs escalated. Bob Eadie, Network Manager at Bedford said "...the main reasons we went with MDaemon were low cost of ownership and the ease with which we could set it up. It is also both powerful and flexible."

Move with Us, UK
The movewithus Property Relocation Network was formed in 1997. Based in St Ives Cambridgeshire, the network has an increasing membership of partner estate agents and industry professionals throughout the UK and overseas currently with in excess of 600 members.

When the company began with one PC and a single email account, few people in the property industry had email and most communication was paper-based. The major internal change occurred in 1999 when the company automated the agent referral system and all staff had full access to the database and email. Previously, the referral system was all fax-based, with sales leads being posted to the relevant estate agents now all communication is electronic using MDaemon and RelayFax as a basis, Simon King, National Network Manager at Move with Us says, "MDaemon has become critical to our business as both estate agents and the public move to electronic communication".

The RYA has gone through a rapid period of growth over the last five years and the need for its IT infrastructure to keep pace with, and help facilitate, this growth is critical. Now being its primary mode of communication, the company depends heavily on email handling around 5,500 every day across its 100,000 personal members, 1,500 affiliated clubs and 3,500 training centres.

"MDaemon has become a critical tool for our business," says Andy Galvin, Senior Network Technician at the RYA. He continues "Everything the company now does is email driven such as email forums and discussion groups. We are making it as easy as possible for people to communicate interactively."

trent barton buses, UK
trent barton is one of a very small number of significant independent bus operators in the UK. The company employs nearly 1000 people across its 11 sites in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, running a fleet of around 330 modern buses and carrying 35 million passengers each year. The sites include a mix of bus stations, engineering, support sites, and operations centres to control the running of the buses.

Andy Spencer, Systems Support Technician at trent barton says: "I considered Microsoft Exchange, however it was far too expensive and complicated for what we wanted. A friend of mine had installed MDaemon into a local school, so I went to see it in operation and was impressed by its scalability and easy to use functionality. Nefkens, Netherlands
The Nefkens Group has been active in the mobility sector since 1878 and is one of the leading automotive concerns in the Netherlands. Nefkens also operates a fleet of lease vehicles and is the official dealer for Peugeot and Opel. The extensive dealer network in the Netherlands takes care of new and used car sales, maintenance and repair, as well as selling original spare parts. The head office - and digital heart - of the Nefkens Group is in Utrecht.

Problem-free e-mail traffic provides many benefits for the Nefkens Group automotive concern. Competition is intense in the automotive industry, so the ability to act quickly and efficiently is crucial. E-mail communication is fast and efficient, but there is more to is than meets the eye. Companies using e-mail also need to maintain an optimum e-mail environment to guard against risks such as viruses, system overload and improper use. The Nefkens Group is connected to a large WAN that runs all the company's business-critical applications. Downtime is very expensive, so Nefkens decided to switch to a web-based environment and an easy-to-manage e-mail server. The choice: MDaemon Professional.
